Find My Competitors – Here’s Why and How
The competition for Medicare insurance sales is fierce. National companies spend hundreds of millions on TV ads. Insurers blitz consumers with countless mailings. Companies have large staffs dedicated to generating online leads.
Winning is hard. And, it can be costly. But it doesn’t have to be either.

And the first step is finding out who your local competitors are.
Step 1. Check out who is already listed on the Association’s Find A Local Medicare Agent. Click the link: Find Local Medicare Agents Nearest To Me.
Type in your Zip Code and see who (if anyone) is your competition!
Step 2. Do a Google search. Type in Medicare Agents Near Me. The box often will automatically populate itself. That’s because Google knows this is a common search.
Click and see the results – Your Competition.
At the top will be those companies that PAY PER CLICK. These are usually national entities getting leads for their Call Center. Or, they sell leads to agents.
Next will often come people that have a Google My Business listing. We will soon have a service that will create and add a listing for you.
Then come the ‘organic listings’.
Often, the Association’s website www.medicaresupp.org will rank at the top of the listing.
That’s why 100,000 people visit the Association’s website yearly. Over 90% of these access the Agent Directory.

The words you use in the description matter most! Read descriptions used by other agents to find words that you like.

Here’s how to do that.
Step 1. Start your listing JUST entering the name of the location associated with the Zip Code. Example: Scottsdale (for Zip 85054).
Next: Finish your listing and Save it. Check to make sure it’s posted (live). Listings appear immediately after you save it (bottom button).
Then: Go Back In. Leave the Scottsdale. Add the rest – Serving All of Metro Phoenix.
First, go back to the Association’s website home page. Enter your Zip Code in the Find An Agent look-up. Make sure your listing appears.
Second, TEST THE EMAIL ME function. Click it and send yourself a test email. Some computers will direct the email into your Spam folder. This can only be fixed on your end. Typically, you’ll have to move the email into your inbox. Test again. You don’t want to miss any consumers reaching out to you.
