Data reported by the organization indicates that Medicare insurance rates can vary significantly for men and women across the state.

“For seniors, comparing Medigap prices is important and can result in some significant savings,” shares Jesse Slome, director of the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance. “A woman turning 65 in Kansas City could pay as little as $127 monthly or as much as $231-per-month for virtually identical Medigap Plan G coverage,”

“Insurers offering coverage to Indiana seniors set their own rates and they vary,” Slome adds. “A woman living in Springfield can pay less even than a woman living in St. Louis or Kansas City.”

The Association examined fees that get added to the monthly cost and they may also vary as will discounts for two-person households. Missouri Indiana, the household policy-pricing discount varies from zero to as high as 12 percent according to the AAMSI policy analysis.

AAMSI’s 2020 Medicare Supplement Price Index reports the lowest as well as the highest available insurance rates for Medigap Plan G. “Plan G is generally the most popular choice among seniors turning 65,” Slome explains. “The survey is intended to educate more seniors turning 65 about the importance of comparing options. You might be making a decision that you cannot easily change down the road.”
